GSL Education are looking for a Mental Health Support Worker to join a supportive school in Southbourne. This role is perfect for individuals who want to make a meaningful difference by helping students build confidence, resilience, and emotional well-being. Both full-time and part-time opportunities are available.
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will work closely with students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges. You will provide one-to-one and group support, helping them develop coping strategies and positive behaviours while fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Mental Health Support Worker Responsibilities:
* Support students with mental health challenges in an educational setting.
* Develop and implement strategies to support emotional well-being and resilience.
* Provide one-to-one and small group interventions tailored to student needs.
* Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to deliver targeted support.
* Encourage positive behaviours and assist with emotional regulation techniques.
* Help students build confidence, self-esteem, and coping mechanisms.
* Promote a nurturing and inclusive school environment.
Requirements of a Mental Health Support Worker:
* Experience working with children or young people with mental health challenges as a Mental Health Support Worker.
* A background in education, psychology, social work, or counselling is desirable.
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to working with students.
* Knowledge of mental health strategies and behavioural management techniques.

* Have the right to work in the UK.
* Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
* Possess an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
