We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mining Engineer. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, overseeing mining operations, problem-solving skills, and a strong commitment to safety and sustainability.
Your key responsibilities will include planning, design, and optimization of mining operations, ensuring the safe and efficient extraction of minerals while minimizing environmental impact, and adhering to regulatory standards. You will collaborate closely with geologists, equipment operators, environmental teams, and safety personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and optimize mine plans, including the layout of mine workings, access roads, and infrastructure.
2. Conduct geological surveys and assessments to estimate the quantity and quality of mineral resources.
3. Provide technical support to mining operations, including equipment selection, production scheduling, and process optimization.
4. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during mining operations.
5. Conduct safety audits and risk assessments to promote a culture of safety within the team and ensure safe mining practices.
6. Develop and implement environmental management plans to minimize the impact of mining activities on surrounding ecosystems.
7. Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including geologists, environmental scientists, and production staff, to ensure integrated and efficient operations.
8. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
Qualifications:
1. Proficiency in mining software such as Surpac, MineSched, AutoCAD, or similar tools for mine design and planning.
2. Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related field.
3. Minimum of 3 years of experience in mining engineering, with a focus on surface or underground mining operations.
4. Strong understanding of mining methods, mineral processing, and equipment selection.
5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex situations and make sound decisions.
6. Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to mining operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience in specific types of mining, e.g., open-pit, underground, coal, metals.
2. Professional Engineer (PE) license or relevant certifications in mining engineering.
3. Experience with project management principles and practices in the mining sector.
4. Familiarity with geotechnical engineering and rock mechanics.
