A long established construction company is looking to appoint a Buyer who will oversee the procurement and management of materials, equipment, and services for all construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Source and procure construction materials and equipment.
2. Negotiate supplier contracts for best pricing, terms, and delivery.
3. Maintain supplier relationships and ensure material quality and compliance.
4. Review and process purchase orders, ensuring that all materials meet project specifications and deadlines.
5. Co-ordinate with the commercial team over the procurement of sub-contract services.
6. Track inventory, manage budgets, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
7. Coordinate logistics, ensuring timely and efficient material delivery.
8. Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and safety regulations.
9. Assist in managing and reporting on supply chain costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
10. Ensure that all materials and equipment purchased meet quality standards and comply with safety regulations.
11. Work with the Estimating team to update costs and take off materials resources from tender specifications and input them into software and resource libraries.
12. Work with Site teams to align supply needs with schedules.
13. Review timesheets and manage PPE distribution for employees.
Experience Required:
1. Experience in construction procurement and supply chain management.
2. Strong negotiation and budget management skills.
3. Knowledge of ISO 9001 and compliance standards.
4. Excellent problem-solving and organisational abilities.
5. Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office.
