The Enhanced Mental Health Team West are looking to recruit 2 motivated & enthusiastic Support Workers to join our successful, friendly & supportive team. Our Support Workers are key individuals who work very closely with all members of the MDT.
Whilst this post requires no professional registration, experience within mental health is essential. The post holder's professional development will be supported by the service through regular supervision & training opportunities.
The team is committed to providing a high-quality service that strives to provide excellence recovery-based interventions for people with severe and enduring mental health difficulties.
The posts include one full-time & one part-time (22.5 hours) the service is open Monday to Friday 08.30 to 19.00 & Saturday & Sundays 9-5. Flexible working can be discussed. All staff are allocated agile working equipment.
At the time of advertising, this role is eligible for sponsorship under the Health and Care Worker visa. However, sponsorship can only be offered if the prorated salary meets the minimum salary threshold of £23,200 set by UK Visa and Immigration.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will be working directly with service users & their families in the community. They will be required to work closely with care coordinators to deliver interventions in line with agreed care plans. Interventions are provided with the purpose of preventing relapse, increasing social inclusion & helping the service users to move on from secondary mental health services. The successful candidates will need to adopt a flexible approach to the changing demands of the service by thinking creatively, organising their own time & prioritising their workload. The post holders will manage a small caseload providing feedback to the wider team during reviews & remain in touch with the service users during any admissions to hospital. Full support & training will be provided, along with access to regular supervision both individually & as a team.

Job responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY
The post holder will:
1. Work under the supervision/direction of registered health care professionals/associate practitioners, within a delegated framework for agreed tasks, seeking support as and when necessary, in the delivery of psychological and physical care to a defined group of people.
2. As part of a healthcare team, provide the highest standards of safe and compassionate planned care to people that maximises their recovery and rehabilitation potential.
3. Develop and maintain meaningful therapeutic relationships with people. Adopt a polite, positive and empathetic approach, communicating effectively and informatively.
4. Demonstrate an understanding of the care and treatment programmes of a designated group of service users to enable you to instruct, advise and guide service users, family and carers. Make the appropriate adjustments within own level of competence and be able to communicate any changes to service users and registered healthcare professionals.
5. Concentrate for periods of time, depending upon the care intervention/care plan.
6. Exercise a degree of independence, initiative and judgement and consider different approaches when delivering tasks.
7. Ensure the care experience is positive and service user safety is maintained. Treat everyone with respect, dignity, and courtesy in accordance with the Trust's Values.
8. Feedback observations to the registered professional / clinical team to contribute to the care planning process.
9. Implement care within well-established policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines and established clinical care plans.
10. Apply basic knowledge of longer-term health conditions, within the remit of care planning, providing advice, support and feedback to a registered professional.
11. Assist in dealing with verbal/physical aggression using de-escalation techniques.
12. Support service users with personal care duties.
13. Undertake a limited range of delegated clinical care duties relevant to the service provided/work area and record patient observations.
14. Participate in a flexible rostering arrangement providing 24-hour/7 day care.

Person Specification
Training
* Must be willing/able to undertake all appropriate Trust mandatory training requirements, and subsequent refresher training relevant to the area.
* Must be willing/able to undergo job development and training.

Experience
* In providing personal care and related procedures for those with health/social needs.
* In working in a caring environment at a band 2 or equivalent level of competence.

* Apprenticeship level 3 or equivalent eg, RQF regulated Qualification Framework NVQ level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent.
* Experience of the speciality area.
* Willingness to undertake further study.
