Metastatic Urology Clinical Nurse Specialist

Here within the Cancer Nursing Team at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we are looking to recruit a dynamic cancer nurse to the post of Band 6 Urological Metastatic Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist.
This post is based in York Hospital, but regular travel to Scarborough hospital or other Trust bases will be required.
The role requires a registered nurse who can work autonomously within their scope of practice and support the team to deliver safe effective care to our patients. Furthermore, the appointee must be equipped with excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a diverse multi-disciplinary group of clinicians, patients, and allied healthcare providers. They must be familiar with change management and able to, with support, write an evaluation of their role at the end of the contract.
You must be self-motivated, enthusiastic, organised, computer literate and able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with a commitment to continued personal development.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will play an essential role in supporting the development and delivery of a service supporting patients diagnosed with urological metastatic disease. The post holder will work closely with the wider urology MDT, the oncology MDT, and the palliative and End of Life team either in the hospital or hospice setting, to deliver a service based on the individual needs of the patient.
They will provide a point of contact for all members of the MDT to co-ordinate and support patients through their treatment for metastatic urological cancer and beyond.
Supported by the wider MDT they will play a key role in the delivery of nurse led clinics providing patient centred support and education for patients with metastatic disease and tailoring services to deliver personalised care.
The post holder will act as a positive role model, promoting quality evidence-based practice, providing education and support to members of the MDT. They will need to be able to adapt and be flexible to meeting the changing needs of patients and the service as it develops.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience at Band 5 or equivalent, within a specialty, preferably cancer, palliative care or urology
* Experience of undertaking Audit and Standard setting
* Understanding of the local and national nursing agenda
* Understanding of relevant national service frameworks/national guidance
* Understanding of research-based practice.
* Knowledge of current issues within healthcare
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (Level 1)
* Diploma level education or equivalent
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Willing to undergo training as necessary.
* Working towards degree or equivalent
* Non-medical prescriber or a recognised teaching qualification
* Service development and/or change management experience
