Job Description
Leading civil engineering main contractor is seeking to employ an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor level candidate, with experience of working with the NEC contract, to join their commercial team. \n\nThis role is following the award of a long term civil engineering framework which incorporates a wide spectrum of civil engineering projects on the East side of England. The team for this framework is based in London and York so there will be a need for a presence in these offices when needed.
\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nOverseeing the financial and contractual performance of projects\nEnsuring profit targets and efficiency savings are achieved\nAdministering change control and managing risks and opportunities\nConducting compliant procurement processes and managing supply chain relationships\nPreparing and negotiating claims, and managing subcontractor payments\nAttending project meetings and site visits to monitor progress\nMaintaining accurate financial logs, cost plans, and project forecasts\nPreparing monthly reports and attending cost review meetings\nEnsuring compliance with contractual terms and governance processes\nBuilding and strengthening relationships with clients and commercial team members\nUpskilling and supporting less experienced team members\n\nJob Requirements:\n\nProven success in a Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveying role\nExperience of working with the NEC form of contract\nExperience of working on civil engineering projects within a contractor environment\nAbility to work independently and manage conflicting priorities\nStrong relationship-building and communication skills\nAnalytical mindset and creative problem-solving abilities\nResilience and flexibility in responding to changing priorities\n\nYou'll bring:\n\nDegree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)\nExperience in NEC contracts\nProfessional membership with RICS or CICES (desirable)\nExperience in a civil engineering environment\nProficiency in cost management software and tools\nUnderstanding of Lean principles (desirable)\n\nBenefits:\n\nAttractive starting salary \nCompany Car scheme,\nAll travel expenses paid\nPrivate Healthcare,\nPension,\nLife Assurance cover\n25 days Annual Leave \nEnhanced Paternity & Maternity package\nOpportunities for personal and professional development\nIf you are an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking for an exciting opportunity within the civil engineering sector, we would love to hear from you.
