Sustainable Energy Group working at the forefront of sustainable energy management and smart building technology seeks a Legal Counsel to support ongoing projects.
Working as part of a great in-house legal team you will take responsibility for offering legal advice across a number of projects.
Responsibilities:
* Providing commercially focused legal advice on a broad range of projects ensuring compliance with applicable law.
* Reviewing, negotiating and/or drafting agreements and conducting contract negotiations with project counterparties primarily for construction, refurbishment and related services.
* Supporting on commercial and contractual matters for tenders, projects, variations and on-going contractual and operational matters.
* Assisting on the governance of transactions at local and group level.
* Working closely with colleagues and customers.
* Managing external legal resource as required.
* Assisting in developing and delivering training on legal matters.
We are looking for:
* Qualified solicitor or barrister, ideally 3-6 years but all candidates will be considered on merit.
* Knowledge of relevant areas of law including standard-form construction contracts, outsourcing, commercial and UK public procurement.
* Knowledge of or experience in the UK construction industry is required including the Building Safety Act and CDM Regulations.
* Strong drafting, negotiating and analytical skills.
* Ability to draft and negotiate a variety of documentation including development, construction, consultants and services agreements.
* Understanding of the contractual framework surrounding projects within the UK construction market including experience of negotiating agreements based on industry standard forms in particular the JCT suite of contracts and NEC.
* Experience of public procurement preferred.
Package on Offer:
£60,000-£75,000 basic, Car allowance, Pension, Bonus, Flexible working, 1 – 2 days week in the office.
