YMCA Heart of England are looking for a Community Volunteer Mentor to join the team based in Erdington, Birmingham. The successful candidate will join us on a part time, temporary basis. YMCA Heart of England is a Christian charity providing a range of life-changing services for the local community. With a turnover of over £4m, we house over 300 young people, most of whom previously were homeless, and support them to get their lives back on track. We also care for pre-school children in our nursery and run various social enterprises to create employment and generate income for our charitable work. With over 100 Staff and volunteers working for us and thousands of people using our many premises every year, we are an organisation committed to delivering the best possible service to our customers in line with our Christian ethos and values. About the Community Volunteer Mentor role We have a new exciting opportunity for Volunteer Mentors to join our team based in Erdington, Birmingham. You will be working independently in the community using public spaces to support and engage young people in various activities of their interests and need. Y’s Girls Mentoring programme is a funded National Mentoring Programme that support young women between 9 – 14 years old for one year. Y’s Girls Mentoring has now been developed and established in YMCA Heart of England which is in its second phase of recruitment to continue delivering this exciting community led mentoring programme. We are looking for volunteers who are eager and committed to make a difference in their own community by supporting girls and young women to be their best through our award-winning Y’s Girls Mentoring project. As a volunteer mentor you will work collaboratively with your area Project Coordinator. At YMCA Heart of England, we have 100 employees working across multiple sites in Birmingham, Solihull, Coventry and Warwickshire, who are all committed to delivering our mission, to inspire young people to discover their potential so that they can live life in all its fullness. We provide accommodation for more than 340 young people, many of whom have experienced homelessness, and support them to get their lives back on track. We also run a children’s nursery and deliver youth work in areas of high need, manage two community centres with conferencing facilities and deliver a range of business-to-business training, all of which create employment opportunities and deliver income for our charitable work.
