The Position:
FanDuel Sports Network is seeking an SVP, Broadcast and Engineering to join the Technology Team. Reporting to the CIO, this position will be based in Southport, CT.
The Game Plan:
(What you will do)
* Be the Innovative leader in reimagining and implementing strategic technology and operations initiatives associated with both broadcast television and digital platforms to align with FDSN goals and objectives.
* Bring your operational excellence hat to drive efficiencies and effectiveness in day-to-day operations.
* Supervise and manage all Broadcast implementations, projects, and multi-platform content distribution across FDSN.
* Supervise a team of Broadcast Solution Engineers to architect, implement, and manage modern broadcast technologies that support our business.
* Prepare and manage the fiscal operating budget for the technical department, including the capital budget.
* Enable high-quality, fast-paced action teams to lead the broadcast operations team and engineers to enable seamless experiences on all platforms, including Digital Platforms.
The Stats:
(What to bring)
* Bachelor's degree (computing or engineering program preferred) and/or formal training in Technology or a related field.
* Minimum 10-15 years in a broadcasting operations management role.
* Proven experience as a team builder and leader that provides clear structure and managerial oversight of the Broadcast Technology Department.
* Significant experience evaluating, selecting, installing, servicing, and maintaining broadcasting industry equipment, service providers, and technology systems.
* Experience establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.
* Experience in administration of broadcast file workflows and play-out systems and Broadcast IP Routing deployments.
* Familiarity with all applicable FCC and OSHA rules & regulations.
* In-depth understanding of a broadcast station including news/sports production, live event production, studio operation, file-based content creation, and editing/transport/transmission.
* Ability to integrate new technologies into media operation on multiple delivery platforms such as broadcast, streaming, and OTT.
* Ability to meet, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Ability to successfully work with our third-party master control hub.
* Excellent verbal and writing skills will be expected as well as strong interpersonal skills.
* Work with senior leadership on budget allocations for facility and operational expenses.
* Demonstrated ability to deploy and implement continuous improvement programs and ways to try out new ideas/challenge status quo.
* You have worked in a rapidly changing environment and thrived in a startup environment and are proficient in dealing with ambiguity.
* You can dive deep into a wide range of technical problems offering suggestions and feedback to your team.
* You influence teams and groups outside your wider organization with deep insight and strategic thinking.
* You have demonstrated the ability to make great hiring decisions, as evidenced by the performance of engineers and managers on your team. You are also able to retain and develop the best engineers and managers.
* Experience at a major news/sports operation desired.
