Job Title: Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo)
Location: Tower Hamlets
Position Type: Full-time, Fixed-Term (Starting January)
About The Role
A vibrant and inclusive primary school in Tower Hamlets is looking for an experienced and passionate SENDCo to lead and manage the school’s provision for students with special educational needs (SEN). This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional with SEN experience who is eager to take on a leadership role within a supportive and dynamic school environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Oversee and develop the school’s SEN provision, ensuring students with special educational needs receive the tailored support they need.
2. Support the creation and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), ensuring regular monitoring and review of student progress.
3. Collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and external agencies to provide comprehensive and personalized support for students with SEN.
4. Lead training sessions and workshops for staff on best practices and strategies in SEN education.
5. Continuously assess the effectiveness of SEN interventions, making recommendations for improvements where necessary.
6. Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that ensures every student feels valued and supported.
Qualifications & Skills
1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
2. NASENCo qualification or a willingness to pursue it.
3. Significant experience working with children with special educational needs, ideally in an educational setting.
4. A strong background in teaching or support roles, with a deep passion for SEN education.
5. Excellent leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple responsibilities effectively.
6. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders, including parents, teachers, and external professionals.
7. Clear DBS check and the legal right to work in the UK.
