Main objectives:
1. As figurehead of maintenance, set & maintain procedures as required by the business, suppliers and contractors.
2. Ensure that the fabric of the building and equipment/furniture within the building is maintained to the expected standard.
3. The job is very hands-on and requires you to complete a large proportion of repairs & renewals yourself alongside organizing any contractors that may be required for specialist work.
Working relationships:
1. Reports directly to the General Manager.
2. Maintain close working relationships with the Assistant General Manager and all Department Managers, particularly the Guest Services Manager, to ensure shift procedures are being followed and completed.
3. Co-ordinate and liaise with the General Manager in all aspects of maintenance operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain the fabric of the building and equipment/furniture within the building to the required standard.
Have necessary qualifications to complete basic plumbing and electrical repairs.
Ensure that all equipment and tools are stored in the correct areas.
Ensure that the best working practices are carried out at all times:
* Operate within the current Health and Safety standards.
* Comply with the current Food Hygiene regulations.
* Focus on the specific requirements detailed in the maintenance folder at Reception.
Maintain all stock levels of the chemicals required and ensure that the relevant departments understand what products they should be using and how they should be using them, particularly with regards to COSHH.
Maintain all departmental equipment in a condition to be serviceable thereby minimizing unnecessary expenditure.
Report all breakages and concerns as soon as practicable to the General Manager.
Ensure the following are completed:
* Annual PAT Testing – September
* Annual Fire Alarm Certificate – April
* Annual Emergency Lighting Certificate – April
* Annual Fire Extinguisher Checks/BAFE – April
* Annual Gas Safety Certificates – March
* Annual 20% Electrical Installation Certificate – September
* Weekly Fire Alarm Testing
* Weekly Legionella Testing
* 6 monthly Fire Drills
* 6 monthly Kitchen Extract Cleaning
* Regular Lift Inspections
Conduct yourself in a way and to a standard that demonstrates the highest levels of integrity, service standards and cleanliness, thereby acting as an exemplary role model throughout the hotel.
Ensure that general enquiries from customers, contractors and suppliers are dealt with in a timely and professional manner.
Ensure that customer complaints are referred to the relevant Department Manager or General Manager at the earliest opportunity.
Ensure that the arrival, stay and check out of guests are dealt with in a manner to provide the best quality of customer experience.
Pass on relevant information at the end of each shift or in the event of any other handover of responsibility.
Produce management information as required by the General Manager.
Attend any courses, training programmes or workshops as required by the General Manager.
Carry out other reasonable duties as required by the General Manager.
General Responsibilities:
1. To be a valued member of the Clifton Arms team, helping and advising colleagues where required, promoting the image of the business, and that of the company, at all times through active sales activity and a positive approach.
2. To be aware of the security of the hotel and the people in it. Be familiar with all emergency procedures and act positively both in the event of an emergency and to prevent one.
3. To be aware of and ensure that those responsible to you are aware of all legislation that is relevant to your work and ensure that all legal requirements are met including: Licensing; Health and Safety at Work, COSHH, Environmental Health, Fire Precautions and any others.
Specific Procedures:
Daily Duties:
* Ensure skip area is clean and tidy, no waste to be outside of skip especially black bags.
* Ensure all hotel entrances are clean, tidy and free from obstruction.
* Check Maintenance log and daily handover and attend to any issues in a timely manner.
* Ensure no lights have bulbs out in Public Areas.
Weekly Duties:
* Fire alarm system testing to be carried out and entered in the red log book at Reception.
* Hot water temperature checks to be carried out and entered in the log book located by the boilers.
Cold Water Storage is at or below 20C, Hot Water Storage is at or below 60C and Hot Water Distribution is at or above 50C.
6 Month Duties:
* Shower Hoses & Heads, Silicone, Grout, Seals and General Bathroom Cleanliness – This must be done in each bathroom on a 6 monthly basis.
* Kitchen extract and canopy to be cleaned.
* Evacuation Fire Drill.
