Key Responsibilities
* To ensure personal competency in all areas of a multidisciplinary specimen reception.
* To manage Pathology Specimen Reception at Royal Surrey Hospital/Royal Berkshire directing them in the most effective and efficient process to meet service needs.
* To attend, and contribute, as a senior member of staff, to BSPS and departmental meetings, helping to formulate policy and procedures, prepare business plans as required.
* To provide support in effective communication both within this area and throughout Specimen Reception, ensuring others are effective within this pathway.
* To participate and represent pathology Specimen Reception in the Blood Sciences budget setting process of the department to plan for future service needs.
* To ensure compliance with BSPS’s Standing Financial Instructions by all members of the department and act as an authorised signatory for staff pay and expenses.
* To ensure the provision of workload statistics for Specimen Reception in a timely fashion as required by the Biochemistry Site Lead and contribute to the production of the Key Performance Indicators.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the OOH rota, which will include late shifts and weekends.
Our laboratory has accreditation for UKAS ISO:15189 and is also accredited with MHRA and is accredited as a training laboratory by the IBMS for both registration and specialist portfolios leading to HCPC registration.
