Job Type: Full-time, in Guildford office
Salary: £55,000.00 - £60,000.00 per year
Schedule: Monday to Friday, flexible with times
We’re seeking an aspiring Rust developer to join our dev team. Nebula is one of the UK’s leading providers of UCaaS / VOIP services for homes and businesses through their innovative suite of front-end tools with a totally unique and bespoke back-end engine. We’ve grown fast from a standing start to an exciting business in just a few years.
If you dream about beautifully architected systems which are memory safe and unbelievably quick, then you almost certainly appreciate the powers of Rust. You’ll be a key part of our small but perfectly formed development team, working alongside Java and Python gurus and rock solid front end and mobile app rockstars in a business that really values learning through doing.
We don’t really go for “experienced in” lists but below is where we currently work, which should give you a feeling for where you could fit in. We hope you’ll be familiar with the basics, but very much welcome the innovation, ideas and change we hope you can bring to our business.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain software applications using Rust, Python and Java.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop new features.
* Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
* Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs.
* Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation.
* Work on integrating third-party APIs and services.
* Lead in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
Knowledge and Skills:
* Proven experience as a Rust Developer gained over the last 3-4 years.
* 8-10 years’ experience of developing in Java and/or Python.
* Strong understanding of software development principles and best practices.
* Experience with telephony platforms and related technologies is a plus.
* Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. Git).
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong communication skills.
You should already have a portfolio of work that showcases your skills and impact on previous projects, and you will need to demonstrate examples of working with and building up systems. We’ll be sure to measure you on the skills you've acquired and would love to hear from all applicants! We aren't interested in candidates with text-book knowledge only, we want to hear from those with oodles of passion, a curious personality and an ability to show off your hobby code to date; telling us what it means to you.
