Outline of the role
The Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) Lead supports the SPA (Strategic Pipeline Alliance) SHEA Manager in implementing strategic priorities related to health, safety, and wellbeing across pre-construction and construction activities. Responsibilities include guiding delivery teams on HSW practices, ensuring compliance with the Health, Safety, Environment Management System (HSEMS), conducting inspections, audits, incident investigations, and fostering a safety-first culture.
This role emphasizes team leadership, coaching HSW advisors, delivering HSW training, and maintaining high safety standards. The HSW Lead ensures the organization meets its health and safety objectives and promotes a culture prioritizing safety and wellbeing at all levels.
Key duties include:
* Supporting the SPA SHEA Manager in HSW strategy delivery
* Providing guidance on health and safety practices
* Conducting inspections and audits
* Leading incident investigations
* Developing and delivering HSW training
* Mentoring HSW advisors
* Collaborating with environmental teams
* Monitoring risks and developing mitigation plans
* Contributing to safety documentation
* Promoting safety and wellbeing culture
Required Skills and Experience:
* Experience in HSW within pre-construction and construction
* NEBOSH Construction certificate; IOSH membership (CertIOSH/CMIOSH)
* Problem-solving skills and digital safety solutions
* Leadership and mentoring abilities
* Incident investigation and safety documentation experience
* Strong communication and stakeholder influence skills
