SALARY: £17,400k Actual Salary (£20K FTE pro rata) plus pension
JOB TYPE: Fixed Term Contract – 10 months
HOURS: 35 hours per week, 37 weeks of the year (Term time only)
LOCATION: Hitchin Campus
JOB PURPOSE:
1. Be responsible for dispensing products and small equipment for class and/or salon use.
2. Maintain and manage sufficient stocks of materials, products and equipment and to ensure that this is available as and when required.
3. Undertake reception duties to include, answering telephone calls, dealing with clients, booking appointments and supporting staff and students.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS DESIRED REQUIREMENTS · Level 2 qualification in literacy (or equivalent qualification).
· Level 2 qualification in numeracy (or equivalent qualification).
· A good general education at level 2 e.g. GCSE’s, NVQ etc.
· Level 2 qualification in a related area e.g. business, retail, hairdressing, beauty therapy etc.
· Assessor qualification
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS DESIRED REQUIREMENTS · Communication skills
· Interpersonal skills
· Computer literate (including excel)
· Understanding of basic principles of finance e.g. profit/loss.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

· Basic knowledge of hairdressing, beauty or holistic therapies.
· Some knowledge and experience of stock control

· Knowledge of a range of hair and beauty products and treatments

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
6. Deal effectively with staff and learners on a daily basis and advise on availability of products.
7. Ensure that sufficient stock is available.
8. Manage and maintain a stock control system that ensures that products and materials are constantly replenished.
9. Ensure that stock is dispensed resourcefully.
10. Undertake stocktaking at appropriate points and at the end of the college financial/academic year.
11. Maintain the professional image of the dispensary and reception area at all times.
12. Ensure that the dispensary area is kept clean and tidy at all times.
13. To assist in the hair and beauty reception area. Support students with assessment of reception duties.
14. Ensure that stocks are kept secure at all times.
15. Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times an in accordance with the college and curriculum area policy.
16. Notify line manager or appropriate manager of any risks or concerns about health and safety.
17. Checks to ensure that all equipment is in working order and contacts the appropriate company when repairs are required.
18. Have a commitment to own development through effective use of the college’s professional development and staff development scheme.
19. Maintain efficient administration systems where required.
20. Carries out tasks when necessary in other areas of the Academy when required
21. To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably requested by the line manager, or any more senior manager or Director
