Global Order Comms Systems Administrator
An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen for a System Administrator role within the Digital Services Systems Team.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic individual who wants to be involved in the implementation and development of the Global Order Comms systems across the ICS.
The post holder will support the Systems Team and Project team on a day-to-day basis by assisting with system testing, user training and support, system development, and day-to-day system maintenance.
Main duties of the job
Able to use initiative and work to tight deadlines.
The successful candidate will be educated to a degree level or have equivalent experience and have working knowledge of Microsoft Windows packages and an understanding of the Core Trust Systems.
A flexible approach to working arrangements is essential to meet service needs, which may include working evenings, early mornings, and weekends if the project requires.
Job responsibilities
This role combines technical expertise, user support, and project management to ensure the effective deployment, operation, and continuous improvement of the Order Comms system across the region.
System Implementation & Coordination
* Collaborate with diagnostic teams, pathology IT, and system suppliers to implement the regional Order Communications (Order Comms) system.
* Develop and update project plans, manage risks and issues, conduct system testing, and provide training.
* Participate in project team meetings to ensure smooth implementation and progress tracking.
System Administration & Configuration
* Serve as the system administrator for radiology and endoscopy Order Comms solutions.
* Oversee system security, address software and operational issues, and provide expert user support.
* Configure and maintain the system to ensure the availability of accurate and up-to-date data.
Training & Documentation
* Create and maintain documentation, including user manuals and training guides, for system upgrades and updates.
* Plan and execute software installations in training and live environments after thorough testing.
* Train new users to ensure they can effectively use the system and have appropriate access levels.
User Access Management
* Coordinate with personnel departments to manage user access, including setting up, modifying, or revoking accounts as needed.
* Ensure all users complete and sign user access agreements and adhere to security policies.
Support & Troubleshooting
* Act as the first point of contact for system users, resolving issues or escalating them to technical teams or suppliers when required.
* Work with digital and pathology IT teams to provide technical support, assist with rollouts, and address hardware and networking issues.
Policy Compliance & Development
* Collaborate with IT Security and Information Governance Officers to establish and maintain robust system security policies.
* Ensure compliance with all data protection and security standards.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
* Communicate with system suppliers and IT teams to address software issues, plan system downtime, and implement updates with minimal disruption.
* Coordinate with departments to ensure effective backup plans are in place during downtime.
* Organise and lead regular System User Group meetings, including preparing agendas, recording minutes, and following up on actions.
* Attend external user groups to share insights, learn from other organisations, and identify potential improvements.
* Contribute to the ongoing specification, enhancement, and implementation of Trust systems.
Person Specification
Education
* Able to demonstrate recent interest in own personal development.
* Educated to degree level or equivalent.
Experience
* Detailed working knowledge of systems such as Badger Maternity/Neonatal, Careflow, EMIS, and Nervecentre.
* Experience in training.
* Experience working across organisational boundaries.
* Extensive working knowledge of computer-based and other types of information systems, data collection, and validation.
* Capable of developing and delivering training programmes to all levels of staff.
Skills
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational, and presentation skills.
* System development, implementation, and management.
