Job Title: Young Person Support Worker
Location: Canterbury, Whitstable and Thanet
Salary: £27,285 per annum
Hours: Monday-Friday 40 hours per week 8.30am-5pm with rota out of hours service
Contract Type: Permanent

Our well-established client, a leader in housing solutions, is seeking a dedicated Young Person Support Worker to join their team. You will be providing high-quality support and positive outcomes for young individuals in the care service, including unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause and support young people in their transition to adulthood and independent living.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide support and guidance to young people living independently in their own homes.
2. Assist in developing young people’s independent living skills.
3. Promote and encourage positive life choices, including social activities, budgeting, and education.
4. Update and ensure progress is made with care plans accordingly.
5. Collaborate with social services and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support.
6. Participate in planning, monitoring, review, and evaluation activities to ensure continuous improvement in service delivery.
7. Ensure all young people and staff are treated fairly and with consideration of their cultural, religious, and physical needs.
8. Provide on-call assistance as required.
9. Address and signpost all safeguarding issues in line with company policies and procedures.
10. Work cohesively with team members to ensure compliant service delivery.
Required Skills:
1. NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Social Care or equivalent, or willingness to work towards it within a set timeframe.
2. Understanding of The Children’s Act and Children’s Social Care system is preferred.
3. Previous experience working with young people in a care setting.
4. Strong communication skills, relationship-building abilities, and the capacity to work well under pressure.
5. Must be able to travel across a geographical area on a daily/weekly basis.
6. Driving License required.
