Job overview
We have an exciting secondment opportunity for a Mental Health Practitioner to work within the ABC Primary Care Network in Maidstone.
This role is part of the Additional Role Reimbursement Scheme, which aims to bridge the gap between Primary Care and Secondary Mental Health services by delivering high quality Mental Health care in a Primary Care setting.
This six month secondment provides a wonderful opportunity for a registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker to improve the experience for individuals with mental health needs, through offering early assessment and access to treatment and support to promote mental health and wellbeing in primary care, as well as getting involved in transformational work across the primary care network.
ABC Primary Care Network consists of a group of three GP practices located in the Maidstone area, including Blackthorn Medical Centre, the College Practice and Aylesford Medical Centre.
Main duties of the job
The role requires a practitioner with excellent assessment skills who enjoys working autonomously, whilst demonstrating excellent communication skills to enable effective interdisciplinary working across a wide multi-disciplinary team.
Applicants will ideally have experience working in a Primary Care and/or Community Mental Health Team setting and above all have the ambition and drive needed to work within an environment of change and innovation.
The successful applicant will have access to regular supervision with a Senior Mental Health Practitioner, Professional Supervision, Group Peer Supervision and day-to-day support from members of the multi-disciplinary team.
A valid driving licence and access to a car are essential to this role due to the service requirements of working across multiple sites.

Qualifications
* Current professional registration with appropriate body in healthcare or social work
Experience
* Significant experience working with people with mental ill health in a community setting

Knowledge and Skills
* Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.

Induction
KMPT is committed to supporting all new staff and this includes a comprehensive Induction programme. The programme's duration depends on role and can be from 2 days to 4 weeks (not always consecutive days).
The Induction programme will provide an excellent opportunity for new staff to meet and engage with KMPT’s subject specialists and include the required training.
The programme may involve some travel to the various training venues across Kent and Medway, the main ones being Canterbury, Maidstone and Dartford.

Probation Period. New employees external to Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust are subject to a six-month probationary period.
