The Shift Engineer will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service by maintaining company vehicles (buses, vans, and coaches) to meet company, Department of Transport, and VOSA standards, ensuring maximum vehicle availability. The role requires working safely in accordance with current legislation and company policies and procedures at all times. Duties and Responsibilities: Perform inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of all company vehicles, including buses, vans, and coaches. Work effectively with minimal supervision, using specialist and practical skills to resolve issues promptly. Safely handle, store, and deploy materials relevant to tasks. Diagnose vehicle faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment. Road test company vehicles (subject to licensure). Provide your own hand tools and take responsibility for specialized tools and materials, ensuring care of all departmental items. Maintain accurate documentation and records to comply with Department of Transport regulations and company policies. Provide reports on work and equipment when required. Stay updated on technical developments through ongoing training and professional development. Carry out all tasks in compliance with the company's risk assessment and Health & Safety policies. Operate in alignment with the company's vision and values, encouraging others to do the same. Perform other duties and responsibilities as necessary, based on the needs of the company.Working Conditions: Standard Hours: A minimum of 40 hours per week on a rotating shift basis, with flexibility as needed to meet business requirements. Shift Patterns: Shifts are 05:00-15:30 and 13:30-00:00. Weekends are required, typically one in every three. Hourly Rate: £22.15 Monday to Friday, £25.47 for weekends. Computer skills including the use of laptop diagnostic tools. Ability to analyze and fault-find. Desirable: Knowledge of bus bodywork. Willingness to learn bespoke computer systems.Interpersonal & Communication Skills Essential: Proven ability to undertake physical and dexterous work. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both orally and in writing. Proven ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team, completing tasks efficiently and effectively.
