Maidstone offers a uniqueopportunity to work on major planning, development, and investment projects. Wework on a varied canvas - embracing growth and enabling infrastructure, whilst enhancingour significant local heritage and identity at the heart of Kent.
To help plan pro-actively,Maidstone Borough’s Local Plan was adopted in March 2024, and we are now focussingon sustainable delivery, including masterplanning two new garden communities. Weare also progressing a Design and Sustainability Development Plan Document and Gypsyand Traveller Development Plan Document and will be reviewing our Community InfrastructureLevy and progressing a Maidstone Town Centre Strategy. These roles will thereforeprovide superb experience for enthusiastic individuals within a dynamic environmentwhere strategic planning is front and centre in the Council’s priorities.

About You:
Your education and trainingwill include:
·A degree orpost-graduate qualification in town planning
·Membershipof the Royal Town Planning Institute
·Full drivinglicence
Your experience willinclude:
·Dealing withcomplex and sensitive planning issues
·Partnershipworking and negotiating with other key organisations and public consultation techniques
·Assessmentand evaluation of large quantities of often complex and sometimes conflicting informationand data and to then find creative solutions and formulate strategic policy andproposals
Additionally, you willhave excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independentlyand as part of a team.
