The Prep Cook will be responsible for preparing ingredients, basic cooking tasks, and assisting in daily kitchen operations. This role is vital in ensuring that the chefs have everything they need to create exceptional dishes. Ideal candidates are team players with a passion for food, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
Key Responsibilities:
Ingredient Preparation:
* Wash, peel, chop, and slice vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients according to the recipes.
* Measure and portion ingredients for dishes, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
* Prepare sauces, dressings, and other base ingredients as instructed by the chef.
Basic Cooking Tasks:
* Assist with basic cooking tasks, including boiling, frying, and baking, as directed by the chef.
* Prepare soups, salads, and other side items as required.
Kitchen Support:
* Organize and set up workstations with the necessary ingredients and equipment.
* Keep kitchen stations stocked and ready for service throughout shifts.
* Assist chefs with any prep needs and food assembly for service.
Food Safety and Hygiene Compliance:
* Follow all health and safety guidelines related to food preparation and handling.
* Ensure proper storage of ingredients and maintain cleanliness in food prep areas.
* Adhere to all food safety regulations, including proper labeling, dating, and storage practices.
Skills & Experience Required:
Experience:
* Prior experience in a kitchen or food preparation role is preferred but not essential.
Culinary Knowledge:
* Basic understanding of cooking techniques and ingredient handling.
* Familiarity with kitchen equipment, including knives, peelers, and mixers.
Attention to Detail:
* Ability to follow instructions precisely to maintain quality and consistency.
* Strong focus on cleanliness and organization in the kitchen.
