A bout This Role
We are seeking a dynamic and commercially-savvy Head of Marketing to lead the IoD’s marketing function. This pivotal role will oversee all marketing strategies and initiatives to drive member engagement, retention, and growth, with a strong focus on expanding our reach and promoting our world-class professional development training. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in growing brand awareness and providing a consistent pipeline of customers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy that aligns with the organisation's goals and objectives.
2. Membership Growth : Design and execute targeted marketing campaigns to attract new members, including leveraging digital marketing, partnerships, and referral programmes working closely with the membership team.
3. Brand Management : Strengthen and manage the organisation's brand identity, ensuring consistency across all communications and platforms.
4. Member Engagement : Develop and implement initiatives to enhance member engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
5. Professional Development Promotion : Collaborate with the professional development team to market training courses and CPD workshops, driving participation and growth in these areas.
6. Content Strategy : Oversee the creation and dissemination of high-quality content across various channels.
7. Digital Marketing : Lead digital marketing efforts, including website management, email marketing, SEO, and social media strategies.
8. Event Promotion: Develop and implement marketing plans for events, conferences, and webinars to drive attendance and participation.
9. Market Research: Conduct regular market research to understand member needs, industry trends, brand awareness and competitive landscape, translating insights into actionable strategies.
10. Team Leadership : Manage and mentor the marketing team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
11. Budget Management: Develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and demonstrating ROI. Using data-driven insights to inform decision-making.
12. Analytics and Reporting: Track and analyse performance, providing regular reports to the Director of Membership Services for use at Board level reporting.
Person Specification
Essential
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
A master’s or professional marketing qualification (e.g., CIM) is desirable.
Knowledge
Up to date knowledge of various software, platforms and digital tools (including AI driven) needed to provide a modern marketing service.
Experience
Minimum of 7 years of experience in marketing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably with experience of different sectors or audiences. Proven experience in developing and executing commercially-focused marketing strategies.
