Test Lab Manager The Test lab manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the test lab and technician staff, focussing on the safety and throughput of the testing facility. Key Responsibilities: Lab operations Be an advocate for safety. Evolve and enforce proper safety protocols to address risk assessment actions. Perform risk assessments for new equipment/apparatus/processes. Monitor test setup and execution to ensure the safety of the personnel and validity of the result Champion 5S methodology Troubleshoot problems relating to mechanical and low voltage electrical test equipment Assist in preparation of project and department budget and resource plans Contribute to the continuous improvement of test methods and lab processes Organise test equipment maintenance and calibration activities Participate in the design, construction and installation of equipment as required to improve test operations. Team Manage test technician personnel (currently team of 2, but up to 4 reports). Actively pursue development of self and team. Lead by example, and coach. Train the team to allow them to perform tests safely and accurately. Create and maintain a competency matrix Monitor and report on team KPIs Project Schedule work from multiple sources, striving to maximise machine utilisation and support as many projects as possible whilst balancing team workload Organise and support external lab tests. Travel to outside labs may be required. Filter and process test results for use in test reports Review test reports Monitor and control project expenses – external test services, new equipment, sample/ancillary part costs, etc Escalate test failures in a timely manner
