Overview of role: We are looking for a compassionate Senior Support Worker or Team Leader to provide 1:1 support for Sam during the week. Your role will focus on reducing anxiety and promoting a sense of control, using approaches such as collaborative decision-making and low-demand environments. Thoughtfulness in communication is key, as Sam can be highly sensitive and takes things personally. Part of your role will involve assisting him in caring for his pets, including daily dog walks and maintaining the litter tray, while ensuring he remains in control of their care. Your support with household management with his permission and in a respectful, non-intrusive manner will be important. As team leader you will assist Sam's parents in the recruitment of additional Support Workers and will oversee key responsibilities such as diary management, staff supervision and appraisals and administrative duties. The shifts are flexible based on the candidate's preference mornings, afternoons, or a mix of both with the remaining shift covered by a second Support Worker.
Who this job would suit: We are looking for a confident, resilient, and dedicated Care Team Leader or Senior Support Worker who thrives on building strong, trusting relationships while working directly with their client. The right candidate will be attuned to Sam's emotions, recognising when he needs space and having the confidence to communicate that to him. A balance of outdoor enthusiasm and quiet days at home is key. As photography is Sam's passion, you must be a confident driver, happy to travel long distances so he can explore new locations.
What’s great about this job: This is a rewarding role with the opportunity to support Sam’s independence while easing some pressure on his parents. With plenty of chances to explore new places, it offers variety and adventure.
