Main Duties of the Job:
The Intensive Care Staff Nurse will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care of patients requiring level 2 and 3 care under indirect supervision from senior staff. They are expected to provide general and specialised direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organisation.

Job Responsibilities:
Provides direct nursing care to patients requiring level 2 & 3 care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of SFT. Prioritises nursing care, recognises deterioration in patients' condition and escalates to the senior nursing team/clinicians immediately. Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team. Provides teaching and educational material as appropriate, validates and documents patient and family understanding of teaching. Leads the nursing team in the delivery of patient care collaborating with other disciplines to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes. Participates effectively in the Quality improvements initiatives for the unit to ensure that the Units KPIs are achieved and are aligned with SFT quality standards.

Qualifications:
Essential:
* Registered Nurse or equivalent with live NMC registration.
Desirable:
* Recognized teaching and assessing qualification.
* Minimum of six months recent acute experience.
Experience:
Essential:
* Patient focused - committed to ensuring a positive hospital experience for patients and the relatives/carers.
Desirable:
* Demonstrable clinical experience in the field of high acuity critically-ill adults.
Knowledge:
Essential:
* Awareness of current professional issues.
Desirable:
* Completed 60 credits Adult Critical Care/Intensive Care Course or equivalent.
Clinical Skills:
Essential:
* Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate interventions and/or treatments.
* Ability to develop own skills and knowledge.

* Recognising teaching and assessing qualification.
