The pre-assessment team are looking for a flexible, hard-working band 5 staff nurse to join their team based at the Cumberland Infirmary at Carlisle. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a small and dynamic team delivering high quality and safe care to all our patients undergoing elective surgery.
Main Duties of the Job
Some roles and responsibilities would include:
* Obtaining a detailed and thorough pre-assessment for all elective surgical patients ensuring a smooth transition through the surgical pathway.
* Ability to obtain a detailed health history during the patient assessment.
* Have a basic understanding of ECG recording and blood results.
* Ability to liaise with all members of the MDT and GP services.
* Knowledge of IT systems used within the department.

Qualifications
* Registered nurse with current registration.
* Mentorship certificate or equivalent.
Experience
* Student nurse in the NHS or equivalent.
* Student support.
Knowledge
* Continuing professional development with portfolio.
* NMC code of professional conduct.
* Equality legislation and best practice.
* Budget management.
* Local PCPI agenda.
Skills and Aptitudes
* Ability to work as a team member, without supervision.
