Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LPFT) is rated as an outstandingly well-led Trust by the CQC and is committed to innovation and transformation. To bolster our efforts and continue to provide high quality, patient focused services, we are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist in Intellectual Disabilities to join the West Hub team, as part of our Specialist services division. We are looking for a doctor who is passionate and committed to the development of intellectual disability services and who is able to support the team and the wider South Hub in providing comprehensive support for adults with intellectual disabilities, aged between 18 - 64.
The role is full-time at 10 PAs per week, with an additional PA as part of recruitment and retention. We are interested in hearing from anyone who is interested in a flexible working pattern, which would include job share and part time work. Due to the nature of the role, there may be scope for hybrid working, as approved by the Clinical Director for Specialist services. As the role will entail home visits and travel across the county, it is integral that the postholder is able to travel via car, due to limited public transport.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide comprehensive psychiatric services for adults with learning disabilities aged 18-64.
2. Currently covering outpatient and community responsibilities.
3. Post holders will be Approved Clinicians (or be willing to work acquiring their AC status) under the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007) and be willing to undertake training and assessments when appropriate. The post holder will also be required to maintain Section 12(2) approval under the Mental Health Act.
4. To hold medical responsibility for the above population.
5. To provide psychiatric input to the Autism pathway.
6. To provide specialist LD advice to all residential and day care establishments provided by NHA and Local Authority.
7. To provide, on an agreed reciprocal basis, consultant cover in the short term absence of consultant colleagues.
8. To participate in the consultant on-call rota (approximately 1 in 15 on-call). On-call duties cover adults of all ages within in-patients areas for adult, older adult, forensic and learning disability services. The rota is a low frequency, mainly telephone advisory service, currently categorised as B.
9. Whilst on-call, the post holder will be expected to offer expertise and support where necessary to the trainees on-call.
10. To actively engage in Trust policies, programmes, training, initiatives and strategic reviews.
11. To work within national guidance and within professional codes of conduct at all times.
