As part of ongoing growth and an active pipeline, they are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Underwriter to join the team in London.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a Junior Underwriter with a keen interest in bridging finance to support our underwriting team in assessing property loans across the UK. As a Junior Underwriter, you will play a critical role in the evaluation of loan applications, ensuring that each deal meets the company’s risk and compliance criteria. Key Responsibilities:
* Loan Assessment: Review and assess bridging loan applications, including property valuations, financials, and borrower profiles.
* Risk Analysis: Assist senior underwriters in evaluating risk factors, ensuring that all loans comply with company policy and regulatory requirements.
* Documentation Review: Verify and analyse key loan documentation, including title deeds, contracts, and proof of income.
* Communication: Liaise with clients, brokers, and solicitors to gather necessary information and clarify any queries related to loan applications.
* Market Knowledge: Stay up-to-date with the UK property market trends, including market conditions, property types, and legal considerations that may impact bridging finance.
* Reporting: Prepare underwriting reports and presentations for senior management and other stakeholders as required.
* Compliance: Ensure adherence to all regulatory guidelines, company policies, and best practices in underwriting.
* Portfolio Monitoring: Assist in the ongoing management of loan portfolios, tracking performance, and flagging potential risks or defaults.
* Support and Learning: Work alongside senior underwriters and other team members to develop underwriting expertise and grow within the role.
Required Skills & Experience:
* Experience: Some experience in property finance, underwriting, or a related field is preferred but not required. Entry-level candidates with a strong interest in the UK property market are also encouraged to apply.
* Analytical Skills: Strong ability to assess and analyse financial data, property valuations, and loan documents.
* Attention to Detail: Ability to identify and resolve issues in complex documents and financial information.
* Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
* Organisational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* IT Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with underwriting software.
* Team Player: A collaborative mindset with the ability to work well with a range of stakeholders.
* Knowledge of bridging finance products and the UK property market.
* Experience with underwriting software or loan management systems.
