Ocean Infinity is seeking an ambitious, collaborative and innovative Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing team. The successful candidate will join the Geotechnical - Service Delivery Team and be responsible for the technical management of offshore geotechnical site investigations including supervision of extensive onshore laboratory testing campaigns and subsequent geotechnical/site characterisation reporting. You will be integral in mentoring and developing a talented team, collaborating across departments, and working closely with our group Geotechnical Laboratory and Geoconsulting teams driving project success. With a focus on innovation and transformation, you will innovate and develop initiatives to enhance workflows, data analysis and quality of deliverables, contributing to the successful delivery, operation and evolution of market-leading geotechnical site investigation services. What will you do: Be responsible for the creation of robust and accurate geotechnical deliverables, in accordance with the appropriate standards and in-house procedures; Lead the technical delivery of offshore geotechnical campaigns (as part of an onshore team) including multi-vessel solutions and a range of seafloor and drilling equipment; Technically manage a portfolio of geotechnical projects, ensuring compliance with appropriate standards and client specifications within project timelines, as part of a wider Project Team led by the Project Manager; Liaise and communicate clearly with both Ocean Infinity’s and our Client’s project teams to ensure informed and appropriate site-investigation technical decisions are made, and that project requirements are met; Lead, develop and manage project specific laboratory test schedules and specifications; Review and approve all geotechnical-data and associated deliverables generated during a geotechnical campaign; Support, guide and mentor junior members of the Geotechnical Team; Develop and drive knowledge sharing within the Geotechnical Team and the wider geoscience group; Contribute towards and develop forward-thinking geotechnical innovations which advances our workflows, data analysis, methods and quality of deliverables; Perform continuous review and improvement of geotechnical processing and reporting procedures to ensure that Ocean Infinity remains the leading provider of offshore geotechnical data acquisition services; Work with the Technical Asset Team and Operations Team to continuously strengthen and develop our services and procedures; Support Tender Managers and the Commercial Team with technical input into proposals and associated solutions; Support Project Managers through all stages of the projects regarding geotechnical expertise; Comply with management system policies, practices, programs, and procedures as employed by Ocean Infinity. Who you are: A Master’s degree in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology or similar discipline; An excellent understanding of offshore geotechnical methods and processes; Demonstrable experience within the geotechnical engineering profession with at least 8 years, with relevant experience within the offshore energy sector; Experience of offshore geotechnical data acquisition; Experience of geotechnical analysis and interpretation; Experience of leading and supervising junior team members; An innovative and creative approach to problem solving; A proven ability to perform in a delivery-focused environment; A thoughtful, thorough and conscientious approach to your work; A proactive mindset with ability to take ownership and engagement in the work; Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise work in a fast-paced environment; Strong interpersonal skills; Strong communication skills; Critical thinking skills and ability to show initiative; Ability to work well in a team and independently; Enthusiasm for protecting people and the planet. Desirable: Previous experience with geotechnical analysis, foundation design and foundation installation assessments; Knowledge of coding in Python and/or MATLAB; Familiarity with or a basic understanding of artificial intelligence algorithms Salary for this position: Up to £85,000 per annum Salary : The salary varies for this position as we are recruiting in multiple regional locations and job grades. The salary process is based on skills, abilities, and experience required.
