Your new role as a Design Engineer will involve the development and optimisation of equipment, analysis of design and mechanical systems, and processing Engineering Change Orders. You will create high-standard manufacturing drawings, produce detailed work instructions, and maintain 3D models and 2D drawings. Your responsibilities will also include investigating mechanical failures, conducting prototype R&D work, participating in cost-reduction projects, and actively contributing to continuous quality improvement and lean manufacturing strategies. Additionally, you will evaluate new materials and manufacturing techniques, create and maintain Bills of Materials, and undertake improvement projects.
What you'll need to succeed is a Level 5 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with at least 3 years of industry experience. Significant previous design experience (6+ years) will be considered if you do not hold a Level 5 qualification. Proficiency in MS Office, 3D CAD software (preferably Creo Parametric or SolidWorks), and 2D AutoCAD is essential. You should have outstanding communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments. Experience in hydraulic and electrical system design, fault diagnosis, and computational & theoretical stress analysis is desirable. Strong problem-solving and time management skills, along with self-motivation and organisation, are also required.
