Job Overview:
The CFAOS Lead will be responsible for overseeing and managing the process of attaining and maintaining accreditation for Tekever Defence under the Contractor Flying Approved Organization Scheme (CFAOS). The role will involve ensuring that Tekever Defence complies with all relevant UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) and Military Aviation Authority (MAA) regulations to achieve and maintain the required standards for flying operations, safety, and operational readiness.
The CFAOS Leadvwill ensure that Tekever Defence meets the necessary requirements for operating unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and aviation technology within military and defence operations.
What will be your responsibilities:
CFAOS Accreditation Management:
* Lead the CFAOS accreditation process, ensuring compliance with MAA and MOD regulations.
* Develop and execute a structured accreditation plan, managing resources and risks.
* Act as the main contact for regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders.
Regulatory Compliance:
* Ensure adherence to CFAOS regulatory frameworks for flight operations, safety, training, and maintenance.
* Collaborate with MAA and MOD to integrate regulatory updates into operations.
* Maintain compliance in operational procedures, safety systems, and documentation.
Documentation & Procedures Development:
* Develop and manage CFAOS-required documents, including SMS, SOPs, training manuals, and risk assessments.
* Maintain accurate records of flight operations, pilot qualifications, and maintenance logs.
* Submit reports to MAA for accreditation and compliance.
Safety & Risk Management:
* Implement and oversee the Safety Management System (SMS) in compliance with CFAOS standards.
* Identify and mitigate operational risks, conducting audits and hazard analyses.
* Ensure continuous improvement in safety practices.
Training & Personnel Management:
* Develop and implement training programs for flight operations personnel.
* Ensure crews, maintenance teams, and safety officers meet CFAOS training standards.
* Maintain certified pilot records and oversee qualifications.
Audits & Inspections:
* Coordinate internal and external audits to maintain CFAOS accreditation.
* Ensure readiness for regulatory inspections and implement corrective actions.
Continuous Improvement:
* Monitor ongoing CFAOS compliance and enhance safety and operational practices.
* Stay updated on regulatory changes and implement industry best practices.
* Recommend improvements in training, maintenance, and flight operations.
Profile and requirements:
Qualifications & Experience:
o Degree in Aviation, Aerospace Engineering, Safety Management, or related field preferred.
o 5+ years of experience in aviation safety, compliance, or flight operations (defense, aerospace, or military sectors).
o Proven experience obtaining and maintaining CFAOS or similar aviation accreditation.
o Strong knowledge of UK MOD, MAA, and aviation safety regulations.
Technical Knowledge:
o Expertise in CFAOS requirements, MOD regulations, and MAA airworthiness standards.
o Familiarity with SMS, risk assessments, and aviation safety practices.
o Understanding of UAS, flight operations, and maintenance procedures.
Skills:
o Strong leadership and project management capabilities.
o Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement.
o Exceptional attention to detail in compliance and documentation.
o Strong problem-solving and risk management abilities.
o Ability to maintain high safety and operational standards.
Certifications (Desirable):
o Aviation safety management or auditing certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, Lead Auditor).
o Pilot or UAS-related certifications.
