Deputy Service Manager - Cardiovascular Medicine
Applications are invited for the post of a Band 6 Deputy Service Manager, which is part of the Division of Integrated Medicine.
Reporting to a General Manager, this exciting opportunity is for those wishing to progress within a management role.
Your role will be to provide business, operational management, and leadership to ensure that the Division achieves its performance objectives by working closely with the clinicians, managers, and staff to ensure achievement against financial, activity, and access targets and in line with our commitment to providing safe and compassionate care every time. The post holder will have the ability to provide administrative duties within the relevant departments along with line management responsibility to the secretarial teams.
You must have excellent staff management skills, experience of achieving key performance targets, and a working understanding of service transformation projects.
Main duties of the job
* In support of the General Manager and in conjunction with clinical and support teams within the defined service area(s):
* Support the day-to-day efficient and effective operational management of the defined service areas, reporting to the General Manager all matters affecting the delivery of core services.
* Work with clinical teams within the defined service areas to respond to operational issues on a day-to-day basis, and ensure issues are swiftly resolved.
* Suggest and agree with the General Manager corrective measures and actions to address identified performance issues, and ensure that agreed measures are communicated to the relevant teams, and implemented in full.
* Responsible for ensuring that day-to-day monitoring of the patient pathway takes place, informing the General Manager about any delays, obstacles and issues and actions required to resolve these.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Education and training to degree level or equivalent experience
* Recognised leadership and/or management qualification or equivalent
Experience
* Experience of relevant NHS operational management
* Staff management experience
* Project management experience
* Experience of successfully managing a budget
* Experience of rota management
Skills
* Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) - including demonstrable experience of writing quality reports.
* Evidence of delivering on objectives
* Detailed knowledge of the 18-week target and demonstrable experience in the achievement of this
* Ability to work and plan the strategic direction of a service
* Ability to cope with large workloads, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
* Confident, assertive, and approachable.
* Up-to-date knowledge of NHS policy
