This is a Consultant Psychiatrist, fixed-term post within the Adult Learning Disability Team in North-Cumbria. The Adult Community LD service is positioned within Secondary Care and has a pivotal role in directly delivering specialist community mental health services, but also an interface with Primary care, Specialist Services within the region. All cases are care-coordinated by a CPN who also supports medical reviews. There will be opportunities for flexible working as per service needs.
Main duties of the job
This is a fixed-term maternity cover for a period of 12 months with a view to extend if required. There will be support for flexible working for applicants outside of Cumbria. Face-to-face reviews would be required in emergency situations or legal processes. For face-to-face reviews, there will be support regarding flexibility to accommodate travel time commitments. The post holder is expected to have RC responsibilities for the community patients.
The post holder should be committed to delivering excellent clinical care, promoting patient safety while respecting their rights and dignity. The post holder is also expected to work effectively within the MDT.

Job responsibilities
Applicants should be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the point of interview. Candidates should be suitably qualified, including eligibility for Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status.

Person Specification
Knowledge
* Up-to-date knowledge in the relevant field of Psychiatry.
* Awareness of current issues and controversies in service provision, mental health policy, and legislation.
* An area of special interest relevant to the post as demonstrated by publications or presentations to learned societies.
Qualifications/Eligibility
* MBBS (or equivalent)
* MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
* Included on GMC Specialist Register (General Psychiatry) or eligible for inclusion, or a trainee within six months of CCT.
* Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
* Approved Clinician Status.
* Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field.
* Has undergone training in educational supervision.
* Has undergone training in appraisal.
Experience
* Experience of multidisciplinary team working.
* Wide clinical experience in general adult psychiatry in different clinical settings.
* Experience of Clinical Audit.
* Experience in multi-agency work especially with service users, carers, and voluntary agencies.
* Experience in service management or development.
Skills
* High level of clinical skills.
* Able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Demonstrate the ability to work in a time-efficient manner.
* Established record of clinical leadership.
* Excellent teaching skills.
