Mechanical Maintenance Manager
Objective:
The objective of the Maintenance Manager position is to ensure the optimal functioning and upkeep of all equipment, machinery, and facilities within an organisation. This role is responsible for managing the maintenance team, implementing preventative maintenance plans, coordinating repairs, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The Maintenance Manager plays a vital role in minimizing downtime, reducing costs, and maximising overall operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
* Oversee Maintenance Operations:
* Create and implement long-term maintenance strategies to improve reliability and efficiency.
* Manage the maintenance team, including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
* Develop a maintenance schedule and assign priorities to repairs.
* Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors and contractors.
Implement Preventative Maintenance:
* Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program to reduce breakdowns and decrease downtime.
* Determine equipment lifecycles and establish maintenance plans accordingly.
* Monitor and analyse maintenance data to identify recurring issues and develop appropriate solutions.
* Ensure all maintenance activities comply with industry regulations, standards, and internal policies.
Coordinate Repairs and Troubleshooting:
* Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, prioritising and delegating tasks as needed.
* Coordinate and oversee repairs and troubleshooting efforts, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
* Develop and maintain an inventory of spare parts and manage procurement processes effectively.
Ensure Safety and Compliance:
* Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain appropriate documentation.
* Implement safety measures and promote a culture of safety among the maintenance team.
* Conduct regular inspections to identify potential safety hazards and take appropriate corrective actions.
* Stay up-to-date with industry advancements, technology, and best practices.
Budget Management:
* Develop and manage the maintenance department's budget.
* Monitor expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and recommend improvements.
* Optimise resource allocation and manage contracts and agreements effectively.
Requirements:
* Proven work experience as a Maintenance Manager or similar role.
* Excellent knowledge of maintenance procedures and best practices.
* Mechanical Bias and a great knowledge of Hydraulics & Pneumatics.
* Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, able to effectively manage a team.
* Sound understanding of safety regulations and the ability to promote compliance.
* Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
* Strong organisational and time-management skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficiency in using maintenance management software or computerised maintenance management systems.
