Site Technical Manager Humdinger, Bromborough (Wirral) Are you passionate about making a significant impact in the food manufacturing industry and ready to take our site to the next level? At Humdinger nut snacking factory in Bromborough, we are seeking a highly experienced Technical Manager to lead, manage, and develop our Technical & Hygiene functions, driving excellence across our site. This pivotal role involves continuous improvement in quality, performance, and cost efficiency. You will provide expert guidance to enhance and develop our HACCP, TACCP, and VACCP systems, ensuring compliance with both customer and legal standards within food manufacturing. Additionally, you will be responsible for communicating and implementing our company’s Technical Standards, applying and developing best practices to onboard new customers and elevate our site to the next level. Principle Accountabilities: Ensure the development, implementation, and adherence to quality management systems, operating practices, and process controls to deliver consistent quality performance and Good Manufacturing Practice. Lead and advise site teams on statutory regulations and company standards related to GMP, food safety, quality, and environmental hygiene. Promote and develop technical service competency while continuously challenging and improving technical operational effectiveness. Develop initiatives to enhance manufacturing operations by reducing costs and improving quality, particularly in areas such as process monitoring and control. Ensure successful new product introduction into the site, ensuring compliance with product specifications. Enhance and drive the improvement of GMP practices throughout the site. Manage the hygiene team and hygiene systems on-site for effective cleaning of the site and all equipment. Main Duties & Responsibilities: Ensure local management of food safety incidents and be accountable for decision-making regarding product withdrawal, consulting with Technical Operations personnel when necessary. Manage systems to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards concerning food safety, hygiene, and quality, including liaising with Enforcement Officers and Pest Control Agencies. Develop, monitor, and review performance targets within the Technical Team, using Key Performance Indicators to improve areas such as consumer complaint levels, pest control management, QAS results, accident numbers, and audit scores. Prepare, justify, and manage department labor and material costs to ensure efficiency and effectiveness within agreed budgetary targets. Manage, develop, motivate, and train staff through effective coaching, regular feedback, and appraisals aligned with the company's competency framework. Develop defined working practices to deliver continuous improvement in environmental hygiene and regularly validate these cleaning practices, setting targets to motivate Hygiene Team Members and promote best practice cleaning. Oversee the effective management of the Pest Control Scheme. Provide safe systems of work and common approaches to ensure the safety of all teams through clear guidance and training. Act as the Site technical best practice champion, integrating standards/policies into manufacturing operations for both Customer, industry food manufacturing standards, and bulk customer standards. Align the site's QMS system with customer COP’s and the rest of the Humdinger Snacking Group to ensure and maintain Best Practice. Oversee the implementation of a paperless packing operation within the Technical and Operations Team within the Factory. Manage and oversee the site's Allergen Management program, including any specific site claims such as Vegan Claims. Manage and oversee the site's incoming goods and testing program to ensure compliance with retailer and customer requirements for testing and analysis in the most efficient and economic manner for the business. Manage and oversee the site's trending program for areas such as complaints, GMP, non-conformances to highlight key areas of concern to drive improvement through root cause analysis and effective preventative actions. Substantial experience within Technical and Hygiene with a demonstrable track record of achievement. Management experience including leading teams in a commercially challenging, results-driven food manufacturing environment. Graduate caliber individual with a food science qualification, HNC/D, or equivalent degree. Proven track record of successful collaboration with major UK retailers. Highly motivated, determined, and enthusiastic with strong leadership and team-building skills. Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment, effectively prioritising workloads to ensure the delivery of professional, leading technical services to the site. Possession of Level 4 HACCP and Food Safety Qualifications or equivalent, along with experience in Food Threat Analysis.
