The Role:
The Manufacturing Director will hold a pivotal role in shaping the future of the company’s manufacturing operations. This strategic position requires a blend of technical expertise and operational leadership. The successful candidate will oversee all manufacturing processes, from sourcing and production to quality assurance, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. The primary focus will be on maximising efficiency, enhancing productivity, and ensuring that manufacturing operations align with the company’s high standards and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
The Manufacturing Director will be responsible for:
Leading and managing manufacturing operations across multiple facilities, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and delivery timelines are consistently achieved.
Developing and implementing strategies to optimise production processes, reduce costs, and minimise waste, supporting the company’s commitment to sustainability.
Overseeing recruitment, development, and retention of a skilled and motivated manufacturing team.
Driving initiatives for continuous improvement, ensuring manufacturing processes and technology remain at the forefront of the industry.
Ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations, fostering a safe workplace culture.
Collaborating closely with departments including procurement, project management, and sales to align manufacturing capabilities with business goals.
Monitoring and managing the departmental budget, achieving financial efficiency without compromising quality or safety.
Providing regular performance reports and strategic insights to the executive team, recommending improvements and adjustments as needed.
Key Skills & Experience:
The Manufacturing Director will have the following key skills and experience:
Proven experience in a senior manufacturing role within the construction or a related industry.
In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes, preferably in materials or product manufacturing for the construction sector.
Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to manufacturing.
Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with a track record of building and leading diverse teams.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to resolving operational challenges.
Strategic mindset with a results-driven approach, capable of managing resources and budgets effectively.
Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field (MBA or other relevant qualifications would be an advantage).
