Job Overview:
We are currently seeking a skilled Automotive Paints Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles to ensure they operate efficiently and safely.
Duties:
Surface Preparation: Sanding, cleaning, masking, and priming vehicle surfaces to ensure proper paint adhesion and a flawless finish.
Paint Application: Mixing and applying automotive paints using spray guns or other techniques, ensuring even coverage and accurate colour matching.
Colour Matching: Utilizing colour matching tools and software to achieve precise paint colours that match the vehicle's original or desired finish.
Detailing and Finishing: Applying clear coats, buffing, and polishing to achieve a high-gloss, durable finish, and performing touch-ups as needed.
Inspection and Quality Control: Examining painted surfaces for defects such as runs, sags, or uneven coverage, and making necessary corrections to ensure a high-quality finish.
Maintenance of Equipment: Cleaning and maintaining painting equipment, spray booths, and work areas to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Compliance with Safety Standards: Adhering to safety protocols and environmental regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and disposal of hazardous materials.
Record-Keeping: Documenting paint codes, materials used, and work performed, and maintaining accurate records for future reference and inventory management.
Collaboration: Working closely with other technicians, body shop staff, and supervisors to coordinate repair and painting activities, ensuring timely completion of projects.
Experience:
To be successful in this role, you should have the following skills and qualifications:
- Mechanical knowledge with experience in automotive repair
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when required
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills to interact with customers and team members
