Ideal LSA role for Criminology and Psychology graduates.
This role is in a specialist provision for children aged 11-19 who have experienced significant trauma, social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
There is a strong focus on holistic and restorative practices, fostering empathy at every opportunity. The school prioritizes non-punitive measures, and manual handling training is only to be used when absolutely necessary.
A practical trial day will be conducted to ensure the role is suitable for you, dependent on your availability to start ASAP, notice period, or if you are finishing University.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support students in improving their lives and keeping them safe.
2. Demonstrate the value of education to the students.
3. Engage with children with various needs, including those with EHCPs for Autism, OCD, and social anxiety.
4. Utilize physical work pragmatically to aid academic progress for each child.
5. Manage anti-social behavior as part of the role, with training and support provided by the school.
6. Implement holistic therapies and processes, recognizing that even small progress is a success.
7. Adapt engagement strategies to meet diverse cognitive abilities and needs.
8. Encourage independence among students, especially those in assisted living.
Training provided includes SEN and safeguarding training, as well as MAPA Training. This role is ideal for those aspiring to become clinical psychologists, as it allows for exploration and development of skills in various areas of interest.
