Job Opportunity: Part-Time Tenant Support Officer Location: Travel across Handsworth Wood, Tile Cross, Barley Green, and Moseley Contract Type: Part-Time (17 hours per week) Salary: £11,657.00 per annum The Organisation Providing vital housing and support services for older people. Position Overview We are looking for a Tenant Support Officer to join our dedicated team. The role involves providing support to older tenants across multiple supported housing schemes. You will work with tenants to create a supportive, sustainable living environment, manage property maintenance, assist with rent and benefits issues, and ensure that high standards of service are maintained. As part of this role, you will be required to cross-cover work at all schemes based in Handsworth Wood, Tile Cross, Barley Green, and Moseley. Key Responsibilities Support Planning: Identify the support needs of tenants, work with them to create support plans, and provide short-term emergency support when necessary. Daily Checks: Make daily contact with tenants, including housebound or unwell individuals, to ensure their safety and wellbeing. Record all interactions and provide assistance as needed. New Tenants: Welcome new tenants, providing guidance on the use of the scheme’s services, alarm systems, and facilities. Property Management: Monitor the maintenance and repair of buildings in line with policies, including reporting repairs and conducting regular health and safety checks. Rent and Benefits: Assist tenants with rent queries, ensure regular payments, and report concerns to the Housing & Charitable Services Manager. Tenant Activities: Encourage social activities within the schemes, liaising with external agencies and promoting activities for both residents and the local community. Safeguarding & Wellbeing: Report any safeguarding concerns promptly and always ensure tenants' safety and wellbeing are the top priority. Mediation & Disputes: Handle any reports of anti-social behaviour (ASB), mediate neighbour disputes, and resolve issues sensitively. End of Tenancy: Manage end-of-tenancy issues, including issuing notices and coordinating with executors to clear properties and resolve arrears. Essential Skills & Experience Experience working with older people, preferably in a supported housing or care environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with tenants and staff. A proactive approach to identifying and addressing tenant needs. Ability to manage administrative tasks efficiently, including maintaining accurate records. Basic understanding of rent management and benefits systems. Willingness to cross-cover work at multiple locations as needed. A Level 2 Housing Qualification (or willingness to undertake study if not already held).
