Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Ophthalmic trained theatre Practitioner RN/ODP to join our team as a Band 7 Clinical Manager working in our purpose-built Ophthalmic Theatre Suite (OTS). This role is currently offered part-time (30 hours) and is aimed at providing a supportive and progressive leadership approach to the ophthalmic theatre team. The OTS comprises of 2 theatres designed for Ophthalmology operative procedures, it has a dedicated ward environment with fully equipped consultation rooms. The successful candidate will be expected to build on links already formed with the ophthalmology outpatient service, providing training opportunities for the team and creating a flexible workforce for the future. This role would be ideally suited to someone who has Ophthalmology experience and has previously held a significant leadership role within the theatre environment. Applicants need to be self-motivated and interested in Quality Improvement and staff development to support colleagues in achieving efficient utilisation of the OTS. The OTS is situated on the main site of Musgrove Park Hospital. Day to day you will need to be able to work autonomously, being line managed by the Theatre Matron team within the Surgical Directorate.
Main Duties of the Job
Key roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Day to day coordination of the unit, the theatre lists, and the staff working in the unit.
2. Work collaboratively with the surgeons, Admission team, and the Theatre team to achieve consistent high-quality safe care to patients whilst balancing that with an efficient service.
3. Work alongside Sterile services to ensure equipment is available for the efficient running of lists.
4. Participate in the Quality Improvement work already commenced within theatres.
5. Work alongside the procurement team to ensure equipment and disposable stock items are replaced and replenished.
