As Lead Building Surveyor you will be an integral part of the Estates Team in the Land and Property department at Yorkshire Water. Reporting directly into the Senior Estates Manager, you will be at the forefront of building management and delivery of building projects across Yorkshire Waters managed estate whilst also providing expert advice to the Land and Property team across a wide range of sites. Working closely with key stakeholders you will be a leading specialist and technical expert for Yorkshire Waters diverse managed estate including corporate, rural, residential, recreational and commercial buildings. Delivering across a range of services including proactive planned preventative maintenance/ condition surveys, contract administration, defects, dilapidations, licences for alterations, reinstatement cost assessments and party wall disputes. Regional travel will be required.
Where you fit in:
As our Lead Building Surveyor you will:
Support the Land and Property team by providing expert technical advice on the statutory/ legislative building compliance requirements across various property types
Plan and manage a proactive building surveying, maintenance and inspection program for Yorkshire Waters managed estate working with contractors and project teams
Undertake site visits and building inspections
Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to identify risks and problem solve
Provide advice on design, construction, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of buildings
Undertake feasibility and scoping studies for planned building works and take on the role of Principle Designer for certain projects
Support on building projects with design acceptance and overseeing works through to sign off
Work with key stakeholders to cost works and support setting annual budgets
Ensure the asset database is kept up to date
Support Land and Property in delivering business strategy with regular reporting
Mentor colleagues including supporting graduate surveyors with their APC requirements
What skills & qualifications you will need:
MRICS/ MCIOB qualified
Extensive demonstrable experience of the statutory and regulatory requirements associated with buildings/ building management and landlord responsibilities
Extensive demonstrable experience in undertaking building surveys across a variety of different property types/ sectors
Good, broad knowledge of building pathology
Good understanding of CDM 2015 regulations
Demonstrable experience of on-site Health and Safety awareness and management
Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Excellent customer service and teamworking skills
A proven ability to work under pressure and to meet tight timescales

Experience of contract/ supplier management
Experience in contract administration
Ability to work autonomously whilst being a team player achieving wider corporate outcomes
