What you will do:
1. Ensure staffing resources are deployed effectively to meet and maintain professional performance standards and statutory time scales.
2. Monitor and improve performance against key indicators; initiate necessary actions.
3. Regularly supervise, appraise, and set targets for staff, ensuring guidance and effective risk assessment.
4. Consistently audit and improve case files for best practice and standards.
5. Evaluate and authorise social worker recommendations, taking personal responsibility for decisions.
6. Take a proactive approach in initiating, developing, and maintaining service standards.
7. Implement effective systems to meet service expectations and ensure compliance with LCS systems.
8. Contribute to service plans and prepare detailed reports and correspondence.
9. Address complaints adaptively and collaborate with other team managers to foster effective unit relationships.
10. Oversee financial management adhering to council regulations for optimal resource usage.
11. Manage staff recruitment, development, appraisal, and performance, ensuring safety and health priorities.
12. Represent the unit/division proudly and fulfil ad-hoc duties as expected, maintaining technical knowledge.
13. Ensure compliance with legislation and deliver services that align with equal opportunities and environmental policies.
14. Comprehensive knowledge of the Children Act and related legislation for safeguarding.
15. Ability to inspire and lead a team, make sound decisions, and resolve problems effectively.
16. Excellent communication, self-management, and budget management skills.
17. Proven experience in social work management and using recording systems.
