What A Hoot Day Nurseries provide high quality, flexible care for parents trying to balance work and home life. Your role as an Apprentice Early Years Educator will be to assist with and provide safe, high-quality care and play based education for young children whilst meeting the individual needs of every child attending the setting.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
Daily duties:
* To show initiative when assisting with the daily routine and daily activities and to have the ability to observe children’s next steps in learning and plan for this appropriately.
* To be able to work effectively as part of a team.
* To assist with the planning of the curriculum using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum for guidance.
* To provide the highest standard of care to all children in a safe, caring and stimulating environment.
* To help to set up the playroom(s) for the daily programme and to help tidy away at the end of the session.
* To act as a key person to a small group of children, liaising closely and building an effective relationship with parents/carers and ensuring each child's needs are recognised and met.
* To work in partnership with parents ensuring continuity of care for their children.
* To communicate verbally on a daily basis with parents with regard to their child’s welfare and development.
* To communicate effectively to the Nursery Manager/Deputy over any concerns e.g. over children, parents or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
* To engage appropriately with the children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulating play experiences.
* To ensure that children are kept safe and when to follow child protection procedures.
* To support mealtimes within the setting encouraging independence and a healthy eating approach.
* To actively participate at team meetings, supervisor meetings and appraisal meetings.
* To attend training courses as required and to take responsibility for your professional development.
* To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families, or other staff, which is acquired as part of the job.
* To be aware of and adhere to all the setting’s operational policies and procedures, e.g. health and safety, fire precautions, dropping off and collection of children, food safety, cleanliness of the setting etc.
* To display children’s work appropriately and imaginatively.
* To promote the nursery to current parents and potential customer.
* To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Nursery Manager, in accordance with the setting’s business plan/objectives.

* Apply legislation, policy and procedure to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of children in the setting (for example, food safety, diets, starting solid food, allergies, COSHH, and accidents, injuries, and emergencies).

Your training plan
All training for the Early Years Educator Level 3. Apprenticeship Standard will be delivered in the workplace. Apprentices must successfully complete a first aid qualification in line with the requirements of the EYFS Framework.
