An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced SALT in the Calderdale Neurodevelopmental Team. The successful candidate will be part of the senior clinical team in CAMHS and will be supporting service development, supervising staff and students as well as offering training to the CAMHS teams.
They will also provide specialist diagnostic assessment to children and young people through face-to-face assessments in a clinic setting. They will work collaboratively with the Multi-Disciplinary Team to analyse information and to identify when further assessment is required in order to provide an outcome to the neurodevelopmental assessment.

Main duties of the job
1. To undertake neurodevelopmental assessments through a one-to-one assessment and a neurodevelopmental interview.
2. To offer additional assessments such as a school observation or ADOS.
3. To be able to support the neurodevelopmental team with the interpretation of QB tests.
4. To use the diagnostic criteria to analyse information obtained from assessment and present findings to the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
5. To participate in Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings by supporting assessment discussions and formulation.
6. To feedback assessment outcomes verbally and in writing to children, young people and their support systems.
7. To offer supervision and training to the team and partner agencies.
8. To support and supervise SALT students on placement.
9. To contribute to service development including right to choose and attendance at local/regional meetings.
10. To support screening of referrals.

Job responsibilities
1. To be the Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in the Service Autism Pathway.
2. To participate in the coordination, development and provision of Speech and Language Therapy Pathway to the Service for Adults with ADHD & Autism.
3. To be part of the Autism diagnosis Pathway in a way consummate with the Band.
4. To oversee the clinical provision of specialist input to clients with autism and provide assessment and advice to the client group, their carers and other professionals.
5. To develop and provide training to clients, their carers and other professionals.
6. To provide specialist clinical expertise and advice on assessment, diagnosis and management of adults with autism within the Service for Adults with ADHD & Autism.
7. To influence and contribute to whole service development in developing care pathways for adults with autism.
8. To continue to develop demonstrable skills in the assessment, diagnosis and management of adults with autism.
9. To provide clinical expertise to the multi-disciplinary team to inform their decision making and to provide advice and guidance to carers, non-clinical staff or members of other professions, who may be influenced by this and to maintain professional relationships with relevant others, working as part of the wider team.
10. To participate in the planning and implementation of the day to day operation of the Speech and Language Therapy Service to adults with autism across the localities of the Trust.
11. To prepare, implement and evaluate programmes and advice for clients with autism, to ensure the delivery of designated standards of care consistent with departmental policies and Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy Guidelines.
12. To work flexibly in the application of knowledge, collecting and using information and communicating information to relevant agencies, negotiating, motivating and monitoring.
13. To develop and deliver specialised training packages with respect to adults with autism, for parents, carers, other professional groups, and speech and language therapists. This will also include supporting senior and generalists in developing training packages.
14. To provide mentoring, clinical supervision, peer support and joint visits for advice to Speech and Language Therapists at all levels including seniors, generalists and assistants within and out of area in their specialised subject.
15. To assist in the training and development of Speech and Language Therapy assistants, students from other professions and to be involved in the provision of full student placements in accordance with Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy guidelines.
16. To participate in the development of innovations in the adult Speech and Language Therapy Service and related service delivery issues, risk management, quality standard setting and clinical effectiveness.
17. To maintain accurate and concise clinical records, providing appropriate reports, attend case conferences and reviews and to provide statistical information to facilitate future business planning in line with Trust guidelines.
18. To reflect on practice, both individually and with peers to identify own strengths and needs, demonstrate Continuing Professional Development and to maintain a portfolio or equivalent in line with professional and Trust guidelines.
