Job overview
New Route to Registration (formerly CESR) supported TED (Trust employed Dr) specialising in Paediatric and Adult Strabismus Ophthalmology.
Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust Ophthalmology Department are currently seeking candidates for this new substantive post.
This new role is designed to support a doctor applying for specialist registration via the Portfolio Route (formerly CESR). The successful candidate will be expected to have Level 4 skills in Paediatric and Adult Strabismus but will be supported with this timetable to achieve level 3 in all other SIA.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic Paediatric Ophthalmology service with 1 ½ full time paediatric colleagues.
BHT has worked hard to create a modern Paediatric Ophthalmology service with AHP led clinics and a hub and spoke model allowing patients to be seen routinely at 4 sites with appointments at the hub carefully controlled.
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing a full complement of Paediatric Ophthalmology aspects of the unit’s work. This will include ROP screening on the SCBU. The successful candidate will also provide, along with the other Consultants in the Unit, a general Ophthalmology service, the exact nature of which will depend on the skills of the successful candidate. One session per week will be dedicated to paediatric eye emergency work.

Qualifications and Research
* Full GMC registration or equivalent registerable qualification.
* MRCP / MRCS / MRCOphth/FRCOphth/ MRCGP MRCPsych or Equivalent.
