Mechanical Fitter Job Overview
Our client in the Worcester area is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to work on various projects. This role requires flexibility, high motivation, and a willingness to learn new information.
The successful candidate will be responsible for building, servicing, and installing rotational test equipment, as well as supporting services and systems.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
* Build DSG products in-house and repair other manufacturers' products.
* Refurbish returned equipment, such as dynamometers and test rigs.
* Install new and reconditioned equipment at customer premises.
Mechanical Fitter Requirements
* Previous experience in servicing dynamometers or similar rotating machinery.
* Understanding of engine and component testing theory.
* Knowledge of oil injection principles.
* Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
* Experience with hydraulic jacks.
* Proficiency in using machine tools (lathe, drill etc).
* Competency in Microsoft Office applications.
* Detailed review of product build and engineering errors to facilitate continuous improvement.
* Attention to detail, confidentiality, reporting skills, and numeracy.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Able to use measuring equipment.
* Ability to read and understand complex technical engineering drawings.
* Apprentice-trained or equivalent education level.
* Experience working in a workshop and on-site.
* Able to work independently and take sole responsibility for complete jobs when required.
* Understanding of Imperial and Metric sizes.
* Possession of a full and clean driving license.
* Familiarity with machining, welding, and fabrication techniques.
Mechanical Fitter Benefits
* £26,000 - £32,500 per year.
* This role will be based at the Worcester site but may involve site work and occasional overseas travel.
* Full-time hours: Monday to Thursday, 07:30 - 16:30, with 30 minutes for lunch, and Friday, 07:30 - 13:30.
