Housing And Support is excited to be working in conjunction with an organisation that is opening a new children’s home and is seeking a dynamic and experienced Children’s Home Manager to lead and shape the future of our new facility. As we establish this new home, you will play a vital role in developing the care environment, implementing operational procedures, and building a high-performing team. Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead & Develop: Oversee the establishment of the new children’s home, including setting up processes, policies, and creating a positive culture for both staff and residents.
2. Operational Management: Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring all areas are operating efficiently, from care provision to health and safety protocols.
3. Compliance & Regulatory: Ensure the new home meets all legal and regulatory requirements, including compliance with Ofsted and local authority standards. Ensure staff and children’s records are maintained in line with best practices.
4. Care Planning & Development: Design and implement tailored care plans for children, focusing on their emotional, educational, and developmental needs. Provide consistent monitoring and evaluation to ensure the plans are effective.
5. Team Building: Recruit, train, and mentor staff, creating a cohesive and motivated team dedicated to providing high-quality care.
6. Financial & Resource Management: Manage budgets and resources effectively, ensuring that the home is operating within financial parameters while maintaining a high standard of care.
7. Partnerships & Relationships: Build and maintain positive relationships with external agencies, families, and stakeholders, ensuring the best outcomes for the children in your care.
Requirements:
1. Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years in a managerial role within children’s residential care, ideally with experience in opening or managing a new service.
2. Qualifications: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or a willingness to work towards this.
3. Knowledge: Strong understanding of the regulatory framework, safeguarding protocols, and best practices in residential childcare.
4. Skills: Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills. The ability to build and inspire a team while managing multiple tasks and priorities.
5. Passion: A commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable children and young people and a drive to establish a home that delivers excellent care.
6. Personal Attributes: Strong problem-solving skills, resilience, and the ability to adapt to the challenges that come with opening a new home.
