About the role
As the Assistant Project Manager will sit in the Delivery Team and will support the division with the function in the finance field. Below is an outline of your main duties, relevant skills, experience and training needed for the role:
1. Reporting to the client and striving to meet their needs. They should ensure the smooth running of the project and work closely with the Programme Manager / Project Manager.
2. Ensure the safe, efficient and compliant completion of work under his/her control.
3. Be able to prepare and produce project RAMS.
4. Ensure best practice is shared across all MWS projects, and shares resource where necessary with other workstreams.
5. Ensure that his/her team is continually driving to improve their performance, and that new ideas and innovation are encouraged and developed.
6. Ensuring that all plant, materials and subcontract resource is managed and on site as needed
7. Report to the Programme/Project Manager/Client weekly on the status of the Project.
8. Ensuring the requirements of the MWS Job Packs and Team Packs are being followed.
9. Checking training certification and competence.
10. Complete and submit site audits and close out actions arising. Completion and submission of Hazard spots.
11. Complete PPE checks including head protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, gloves, High visibility clothing. Other PPE as required by task.
12. Ensure jobs meet all environmental standards
13. Ensure compliance with NRSWA notices and permit conditions.
14. Checking of signing, lighting and guarding to ensure compliance with the NRSWA (red book).
15. Ensure all permit conditions are met.
16. Dealing with all customer issues in accordance with the protocol.
17. Day-to-day liaison with the Project Manager regarding complaints & queries.
18. Respond to the Escalations team in accordance with the prescribed timescales
19. Ensure compliance with all aspects of the contract standards.
20. Ensure water quality standards are maintained, ensuring pipe ends are sealed, storage of materials, chloros, usage etc.
21. Ensure the data integrity of all jobs completed including random dip testing of data including but not limited to; serial numbers (bar codes), co-ordinates, photograph quality on route and task stop-starts times etc.
22. Ensure where possible production rates are met reporting any issues or slippages to their manager.
23. Ensure all gangs are completing all data fields on the system and posting the required photographs.
24. Ensure all project data and evidence is collected, collated and correctly stored.
25. Jeopardy management of jobs prioritising jobs with limited SLA days remaining
26. Development and maintenance of key reports to monitor and drive performance
27. Ensure the day-to-day compliance management including problem solving & resolution of issues.
28. Ensure jobs are health, safety, quality and environmentally compliant in accordance with legislations, procedures and standards.
29. Ensure any issue or problem encountered are notified to / escalated to your line manager.
30. Promote the highest levels of integrity within the business, demonstrate professionalism and uphold the MWS code of conduct at all times.
31. Engage with Contractors and Highway authorities where needed.
About You:
We value you for who you are, so appropriate formal training and development will be provided, but we will look favourably if you can demonstrate that you are (all are preferable);
32. Degree/HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Construction
33. Management training such as Institute of Leadership and Management Level 5 or equivalent
34. NEBOSH National Certificate (General or Construction)
35. SMSTS
36. Water hygiene
Experience:
If you have experience of working in the water industry that would be beneficial but not necessary.
Knowledge & Skills:
37. Ability to conduct inspections, recommend preventative action, develop new initiatives and co-ordinate to ensure their implementation
38. Proven ability to deliver against operational targets
39. Commercially aware and engaged
40. Naturally collaborative, able to build relationships with key client and supply chain contacts
