Salary: Base salary: £40,750pa to c.£50,950pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer flexible benefits fund of 20% which is paid on top base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits - check them out in the Benefits section on our website.

As a FP & A MI Reporting Accountant at HS2 you will be responsible for supporting the MI & Reporting Manager in a management accounting capacity, this involves consistent financial reporting, including: month-end reports, and forecasting.
About the role:
* Conducting analysis, insight and reporting, including financial transactions, such as accruals, journals, reconciliations as required to aid the MI and Reporting Manager
* Perform month-end reporting (Monthly Business Review packs, WD5 pack, JV YoY analysis, reconciliations between oracle and prism, accruals reporting, cash flow reporting, workforce planning, interface of data between Firin and Oracle)
* Supporting the FBP through the forecasting and planning cycle to obtain funding for business delivery priorities, optimising the allocation of funding to create value.
* Assist in providing specialist finance advice for complex financial issues as required by the MI and Reporting Manager

About You:
Skills:
* Communication skills: ability to interpret and communicate complex financial issues to non-financial colleagues and to secure compliance with Managing Public Money .
* Stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage, communicate and develop consensus with both internal and external stakeholders up to Executive level.
* Technical accounting skills (current IFRS and FReM understanding)
* Ability to analyse interpret complex financial data, throughout the programme lifecycle and use it to support decisions and recommendations within the business
* Ability to use ERP systems, utilising data analytics software and complex Excel models
* Ability to deliver value adding MI and ensuring effective financial controls within a major project
* Ability to prioritise, making insightful recommendations on the options for allocation of scarce resources.
* Ability to manage teams and ability to resolve issues to agreed deadlines
* Ability to develop output driven, activity-based budgets, clearly aligned to programme delivery requirements, making clear and reasoned recommendations to the Executive.
* Ability to develop and set clear timetables, guidance, templates and communications for use by the business that capture all relevant supporting information behind plans and forecasts;
* Ability to critically review and challenge performance, assessing plans for their affordability, value for money, timing and impact on programme delivery;
Knowledge:
* Knowledge of accounting systems and the ability to develop and manage offsystem analyses and records (e.g. spreadsheets)
* Knowledge of Government accounting requirements (DEL/AME funding) to ensure compliance of business plans with delegated authority;
Type of experience:
* Experience of driving output focussed, activity-based budgets and forecasts;
* Leading the process for development of the annual business plan and budget setting processes within funding caps set by the Spending Review.
* Experience engaging and collaborating with key stakeholders and partner functions (such as planning, procurement, contract management and HR teams) to ensure a holistic view taken to the required capabilities and resources needed to effectively deliver plans;
* Qualified Accountant with experience of operating at a senior level in a complex environment which may include infrastructure projects
