Here is an exciting opportunity for your to join our radiology team as a diagnostic radiographer.You will be an experienced radiographer, with autonomous responsibility for providing a high quality specialist and general radiography service to all patients, across a broad spectrum of imaging techniques, using best practice at all times.
You will be responsible for supervising radiographers, assistant practitioners and support workers on a daily basis in one of the specialist modalities. Duties will include ensuring adequate staffing in your area and respond to changes in demand in an efficient manner, to ensure smooth service provision across 7 days.
You will be responsible for managing their own workload and for the coordination and allocation of work to those under their supervision.

• Perform a broad range of scanning procedures to a high level of accuracy, adapting radiographic technique where necessary, following careful assessment of the patient’s condition and the complex, clinical information received
• Prioritise workload according to clinical urgency/need when working single handed and running an area
• Take responsibility for the patient whilst under your care, maintaining their dignity and considering their physical, emotional and psychological needs adapting your practice as required
• Be responsible for the safe intravenous injection of contrast media, when required, checking for any contra-indications for each patient
• Cannulate patients as required for procedures
• Participate in departmental audits, making suggestions on, and participating in departmental audits, as required
• Participate in the seven day radiography service on a rota as required. Working during unsocial hours, you will work independently in unpredictable situations with emergencies.

• Using effective communication techniques you will be able to adequately reassure all patients including those with barriers to understanding, and be able to adapt radiographic technique to produce high quality diagnostic images.
• Offer support and reassurance to patients undergoing procedures who are distressed or claustrophobic.
• Liaison with colleagues across the Trust to ensure that the flow of patients is well-managed; this will include senior and junior medical staff, clinical colleagues, ward, portering and patient representatives.
• Using a variety of techniques, adapting your training / coaching support to students and junior members of staff to maximise training opportunities.
